Hooligans Stumble in Return After Two Week Hiatus

After a 2 week break the Hooligans were back in action this past Saturday. The opponent was the Nashville Knights who were coming on a 4 game losing streak and looking to get their season back on track.

The game had some issues before it ever started but after the field was changed and the time pushed back it was finally game time. The game started and both teams were exchanging chances with the Knights having the best of the chances forcing Hooligan GK and Captain Grant Allen to make a big save pushing the ball off the post in the 30th minute.

Allen was called into action just 9 minutes later but this time he could not make the save. A free kick about 35 yards out was sent in the box and the Knights player scored off a wonderful volley. The Knights would take this lead to half time.

The Hooligans started off the second half with a high press and created multiple chances and just could not find the back of the net. Forcing the Knights keeper into action on several occasions. “We had multiple opportunities and so did they” said Allen, “We didn’t capitalize any of our chances with our late push to get something out of the game in the end.” Coach Andy Donohue had this to add “Disappointed with the result. We felt our performance deserved something from the game.”

“We looked really good at times but we need to work on a few things to be at our best.” Allen mentioned, he also said “We will move past this loss and focus on improving for our next game.” The Hooligans can look to rebound this Friday, April 22nd in Hendersonville, TN vs Beaman United (4-0-1).
